I have prettyhigh smithing but honestly dont even use anything I make. I cant seem to figure out enchanting.
I use all weapons and armor I make/enchant myself. As Martins suggested, working on crafting a Daedric set right now. For enchanting, it's easy. When you start collecting a good amount of soul gems, don't sell them. Go to a place with an Arcane Enchanter to enchant. (I use Anise's cabin). There's two things you can enchant - weapons and apparel/armor. Different Soul Gems effect these two categories differently. With Armor/apparel, the bigger/better the soul the bigger/better the numbers. So for example using a petty soul to enchant your helm with +magika will add 3 magika. Using a GRAND soul will add 30 magika. With weapons, the damage will not vary as much. Instead, the number of charges will vary. So with a petty soul, your mace will do +16 fire damage for 80 charges, while with a grand soul you'll do +16 damage for 300 charges. As for soul gems, the most confusing part is that a larger soul gem can hold a smaller soul. For instance, an empty grand soul gem can trap a petty soul. Annoying as fuck when I fill my Black Star and find out it's charged with petty soul. Does that all make sense? Trying to explain it made me realize it really IS a complicated pain in the ass.
