BobNOMAAMRooney nli said:
So aside from blind political allegiance what makes you guys think this administration will not or is not abusing its powers in wiretapping and torturing innocent people? And as for the supposed liberal media anti-war bia, the media has only recently begun to question the current administration's actions, if you remember the lead-up to the war in Iraq there was very little questions from the media on our reason for going to war. The reason why there are so many "negative" stories is the fact that it is the journalist's responsibility to cover newsworthy events and issues that would otherwise go uncovered. Yeah it's great that some US soldiers built a school or gave some Iraqi kids candy but it is not news when civilians and soldiers are being blown up, tortured, and beheaded. Covering these negative events isn't liberal media bias, it's simple journalism, and journalists are expected to cover such atrocities regardless of who is in the White House (It sure was great that the liberal media held off on covering those things in Vietnam when LBJ was in power wasn't it? And wasn't it grand when the liberal media ran only puff pieces on how great Clinton was for the entire 8 years under Clinton?) And if you're sick and tired of all these "negative" stories, tough shit. It's your war, you're paying for it. Now take it all in, not just the good parts that make you feel like we're getting revenge or a great country, and remember that it isn't all about sticking an American flag atop a pile of sand niggers.
Extremely good points. I do consider myself mostly liberal, but I also try to see both sides of everything because I don't trust any one group to tell the truth all the time. ALL parties in this country will dress things up to make their case, I think the most critical and tragic lies come from fanatical conservatives, but that doesn't excuse it from any other side. Brushing off every story you don't want to hear as "liberal media crap" or whatever just displays your ignorance and your hand in the one-sidedness you're so vehemently blaming on liberals. The stories HTL has brought up since I started coming here regularly are all legit news stories, I read the newspaper, different papers, every day. She's not inventing some conspiracy theory bullshit from out of her ass, it's real news. I don't always agree that the way she says some things is the BEST way to say or look at it, but she's got every right to be pissed off and of course if you don't like what she's got to say, don't read it. I don't like what some of you say but I like opinions and always consider them, even if I think the person displaying them has their head firmly lodged in their anal canal. That all said...I was wondering about something today. WHY are these photos being released NOW? At this already rocky, sensitive time, post-Danish cartoons? Doesn't it seem either wildly idiotic/irresponsible or antagonistic to release them now, years after they were taken? I have no ideas on who to blame for it, but it stuck me as weird today while I was reading about it. Granted WE didn't make the cartoons but the heat is still seeming to come down on us as part of the "western" world. With all the riots and murders going on against the west, why fuel the fire by releasing this shit now? Any ideas? Who benefits from it?
