why do guitars even come with neck pickups? They sound like shit for most applications...they are like for sweep picking, blues rhythm, jazz licks, and doom bands. They should be optional. Middle and bridge standard.

Tom -- is that a fixed trem????

I personally don't like having a neck/middle pickup but I'd take having a neck pickup over a middle pickup as they sometimes get in the way of picking.

yes I know, I've had floyds all my life, but I need at least one guitar that I can tune any way I want without having to spend a half hour doing it.

I agree Middle's are still meh but every now and then with recordings and such I look for that warmer tone. I guess Neck is the lesser of two evils but god they sound like indistinct mud most of the time.

I'd prefer just having just a single bridge hb...but it would most likely have to be custom...someday it will happen.

I always longed for that model of SG that the dude from Sick of It All has. It's one bridge hb, a tone and a volume knob. it's super simple and only like $699 new for a good one.

oh yeah, I don't even want a tone knob, f- those things.

Wow, Fernades was able to ripoff Gibson and BC Rich at the same time. Yippee.

guitars that don't come with a neck pickup should be burned or modded to have the problem corrected

mine... all mine... plays sweet, needs a full on setup though...

once it's got some 11's, lowered action, tuned and intonated to C it'll be ready to go... until I decide to get my new pickups for it :newhorns:

I can't wait to get it set up, this is actually the guitar that I'm going to use for my Deathmetal side project (hence why it's going to be tuned to C and not B like I am with shroud)

since it's not a bolt on neck, I'm not going to do the setup myself like I normally do, because set-neck and neck-thru neck adjustments scare me to watch

That Dean Razorback is nice.

I'm not too happy with the action on my current Dean. It's served me well for years, but I'm looking into something new. Possibly a Jackson or ESP. For some reason I can play other guitars far faster than my Dean. Even my Ibanez.

Any recommendations for a reasonable price range? (up to $500)

with or without floyd rose?

I personally love Jackson & Ibanez, but the cheap ones are just... cheap... I paid $300 for that guitar I just bought (retails for $599) you could always look into Halo guitars too, I've heard good things about those, and they're relatively inexpensive

if I had $400 I'd:

-pay for ttos to do a 7"
-save it for tour or recording time
-pay some bills
-get a new acoustic
-get a used telecaster or rickenbacker
