Can we move the bachelor party to the show and hire strippers? Yeti, I believe you are thinking of Michelle. I just spent 10 minutes on myspace figuring out where I remember one of those other girls in Samantha's pic from. |

______________________________ [Nov 8,2006 12:39pm - Yeti ""] as long as the strippers arent busted. i went to this bachelor party fairly recently with strippers, and all of them were fucking nasty. most were missing a lot of teeth, but others you could tell that they have recently given birth by the grotesque stretch marks or C-Section scars. it was disgusting. |
__________________________________ [Nov 8,2006 12:46pm - Samantha ""] If it's in Worcester, there is a 95% chance that they will be busted. The strippers are on their own if they enrage the metal bitches. Ha ha! I have no problem with strippers; however, I also have no problem with throwing some chick into the dumpster with all of the rest of the trash if she fails to respect my boundaries. >:] |

___________________________________ [Nov 14,2006 11:18am - Samantha ""] It was definitely good to see so many people at the show. My only complaint was that Ralph's had the order wrong on their myspace page, and I know at least 15-20 people who came just to see Nocturnum but missed them because they didn't know they were playing first. Umm... I guess I will be the first to do this, and I'm hoping it will encourage other people to give some feedback as well. Nocturnum: They were having numerous sound issues, but I think they still did a great job. The only reason why they had any screw-ups was because the sound guy must have changed the levels on the monitors after they did their sound check, and they could not hear themselves at all. I've heard them sound much better than they did, but I think their music is so original and well-written that it speaks for itself in spite of any sound issues. Besides, being the first band sucks anyway. You always get the crappiest sound, and the crowd isn't drunk enough to flip out to your music yet. Sacreligion: I think the sound guy had finally finished fine-tuning everything at this point. I don't know what it sounded like on stage, but the sound was pretty good from the crowd. For the style of music they play, Sacreligion is really good, but it's not really the kind of metal I'm into... just a matter of personal taste. I really enjoyed the Type O cover, though. The second they started playing "Gravitational Constant", I went completely ape shit. 18 Wheels of Justice: I can't give them much of a review because I spent most of their set walking around Ralph's searching for a couple of drunk people who wandered off. I made amends by hooking up a couple of the band members with some Jaegermeister, though. Sorry guys. :( I'll catch you another time. Kultur: Kultur is another band that plays a style of metal that really isn't what I'm into. For what they do, though, they do it well. The whole crowd was freaking out, and there was a brutal pit. Face Full of Shotgun: They sounded even better at this show than they did when I saw them at Metal Thursday. The sound guy did a better job this time, and I was more able to hear all of Sam's sick guitar solos. Their music is very complex. Now that I've seen them quite a few times, I'm finally more able to identify how all of the parts fit together. It sort of reminds me of when I first bought Emperor's "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk", and even though I loved it, I couldn't listen to it for very long because the complexity of it made my head hurt. It took me a couple of years to fully understand and appreciate all of the nuances of that album. Face Full of Shotgun has the same effect on me. |

I think the guitars had a nice, heavy sound to them, and everything was pretty tight. The actual style of music isn't my cup of tea, but you weren't bad. You were much better than the time I saw you play at Metal Thursday a couple of months ago, and all of your band members were really stoned. |

__________________________________________ [Nov 14,2006 5:26pm - Captain obvious ""] It couldn't possibly be a biased oppinion. It's funny that the only bands that were your style were your friends bands. I wouldn't want to play Worcester if the review was "I'm sure your good at what you do but your not my style." That's just a nice way of saying a band sucks. Fucking Lame! |
__________________________________ [Nov 14,2006 5:42pm - Samantha ""] Here is a clue for you: I like black metal. I like death metal. I like thrash metal. I am NOT a fan of Hardcore. Just look at how the bands describe themselves on myspace. Gee... It's funny that the only bands whose style I wasn't a fan of where HARDCORE. It has nothing to do with who I know, who I am friends with, or anything else. I'm simply not a fan of hardcore. It's nothing to take personally. Nocturnum Black Metal / Progressive / Metal Sacreligion Metal / Death Metal / Hardcore 18 Wheels of Justice Metal / Thrash / Hardcore KULTUR Metal / Hardcore / Thrash Face Full of Shotgun Thrash / Death Metal / Grindcore Wow! What a really big coincidence, Captain Obvious!... And if you don't want to play in Worcester if someone reviewed you by saying, "I'm sure your (SIC) good at what you do but your (SIC) not my style." then you're probably not ready to play anywhere. There are a lot of really good bands that get reviews that simply state, "This band sucks!" and they deal with it. It comes with the territory. The fact is that they have the balls to get up on stage and play what they love. Not everyone will like your band... and just because someone isn't a fan of the style of music you play, it doesn't mean that they can't appreciate your musical ability. It's not a nice way of saying that a band sucks. It's a way of expressing your honest opinion... "I don't like hardcore, but I think your band has some talent". If you can't deal with someone having an opinion about that, the problem is entirely yours. |

Fucking Lame! that doesn't make any sense. you wouldn't want to play worcester because one person didn't like a couple bands as much as the other ones? that's one opinion out of 200,000 in worcester...but i guess it must mean it sucks to play there. and if you can't handle someone not liking the music you make then don't share it or get the fuck out of the business |

_________________________________________ [Nov 14,2006 6:42pm - ValkyrieScreams ""] Now as for the show on Friday... I had an amazing time. When I go to shows, I make a point of having an amazing time. :doublehorns: What else is there? I work ridiculously hard in the "serious" parts of my life, I rock out ridiculouly hard afterwards and usually knock some heads around (frequently my own). I thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to all the bands. Although I wouldn't toatally agree that those called "hardcore" in the comments above really fall into that category (except maybe in that elements of the hardcore influence do surface from time to time), I can step back without prejudice and realize what aspects of the sound don't have the same appeal to certain types of metalheads as they do to me. I happen to love hardcore. I also happen to love thrash, death, black, and grind metal as well as many other random and varried styles of music. Like mostly everyone, I have certain preferences; however, if I'm in the mood to listen to one kind as opposed to another, that's not to say everything else sucks. There is a difference between stating an opinion, giving constructive criticism and straight up insulting someone's creative attempts. Likewise, if someone wants to give added support to their friends' bands, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc, what's wrong with that? We're here to talk about the music, the pit, and stuff specific to the scene right? Why attack each other? |
__________________________________ [Nov 14,2006 8:16pm - Samantha ""] "Captain obvious" obviously lacks some reading comprehension skills, and this is why I will no longer pay attention to this person. People like this are exactly why a lot of people do not post on RTTP. There is far too much pointless drama on this site. In any case, I'm glad that my post did eventually encourage more people to talk about what they thought of the bands that played (which was really the point in the first place). I think that bands like to hear honest feedback from the people who have seen them. I find it hard to believe that any of the bands would be offended by my saying that I think they can play well, and their music is well-written, but that I'm not a fan of their hardcore influences. At least I have something of value to say about their music, rather than being a total meathead about it like the anonymous "Captain obvious". More than a decade ago, I lived in a city that had a big hardcore scene. I saw A LOT of hardcore bands back then, including some that are fairly well-known now but weren't years ago when I saw them. A lot of hardcore fans would be creaming their pants if they knew about some of the shows I attended. Honestly, I got bored with hardcore. What really sealed the deal was when the obnoxious jocks started coming to shows. They had absolutely no sense of pit etiquette, but I guess it was fun to watch them run around after I knocked their hats off their heads while they were in the pit. The music changed over time, and I didn't like what it had become. Anyway, I've always liked black, death, and thrash metal much better than I ever liked hardcore. On the other hand, there are a lot of people who love hardcore and/or death metal but would rather shove a red hot poker into their eye sockets than listen to any band with a keyboard player. Sacreligion does something unique by incorporating a keyboard into the style of music that they play. I think that is cool. I'm sure that none of them think I'm an asshole because their hardcore influences are not within the realm of my own personal tastes. They seem like decent people. |
